SAD_DOG_HOUSE, 2025, Multi-channel video installation, paint on wood.
Exhibited at New Contemporaries 2025, Sydney College of the Arts.
The minimum amount of information needed to establish the understanding of a chair, a plinth, a cube, a pixel, a line of text.
SAD_DOG_HOUSE is a 11 channel video and sculpture installation. Recreating a home through displaying the visual, textual and sculptural signifiers of domestic objects. Rather than immersion into the space of the home, it is a gesture towards the category of a home. Referencing pictorial nominalism, SAD_DOG_HOUSE uses the insistence of obsolete labels as an action of meaning making. A chair is a chair once deemed a chair. It may fade and disintegrate, yet upon the agreement of our collective understanding, that blank residue is still a chair.
