Double channel video projection, 3:17min.
LITTLEGUYMOVIE is a double channel video installation confronting the
audience with the sheer multitude of media in the modern age, the
expansiveness of the universe, and the most terrifying of all, the self.
An idea that came up during a worse time, the phrase “Inescapable self hatred”,
or more neutrally, the inescapable multitudes of self is at the inherent core of the
work. The idea of the self being all consuming yet small, implicit yet
inconsequential, the lens in which we view the universe, and in which the
universe consumes us.
The materials and media used in this sensory overload video reflect on the
technology of the contemporary age - the ones that most blatantly affect the
individual on a day to day scale. A pastiche of pop and obscure media - a
fascination in the evolution of the electronic superhighway in a most honest and
satiric form.
The theme of light and dark itself presents a dialectic, the all and the nothing,
the is and the isn't - the fight of the self against the universe. The aspects of light
and dark are physically manifested by the interplay within the audience's
interaction with the installation. The projection of the video being light,
representing the universe, blocked by the casted shadows of the audience
interacting with the light. The self obscures the all.
